Kayaking

We had a fun day Saturday getting our kayaks on the lake. The weather was beautiful and it was peaceful to be out there just rowing around. Kaleb was good about it all . . . FOR LIKE A MINUTE. He tried to lean over and touch the water the whole time. Then he took off his shoes and threw one of them out (don't worry, we saved it). We knew he was done when he lifted one leg over to try and climb in the water. We thought about just thowing him to the fishes, but decided not to : )
Kaleb had more fun just feeding the ducks and throwing rocks in the water. Braydan was mean and would find the biggest rocks for him to throw. Kaleb would grunt and use all his might to lift the big rocks and throw them a centimeter (nearly on his own toes!). I was nice and gave him small pebbles, but he just ignored me.
You can kinda tell the progression of how he went from pants . . . to diaper . . . to no diaper! He would've been happy running around naked, but I wanted to save the ducks eyesight!

I forgot to put a BEFORE shot of my doors (trim and paint) on my last post, so here's one from upstairs, but you get the idea:























My tulips are going crazy around the house, so I thought I better be like Grandma Blodgett and take some pictures of them.
While my flowers are doing good, for some reason my tomatoes aren't thriving. Any guesses why?




Oh, maybe it could be that Kaleb thinks it's his personal sandbox?

I just had to include this picture. If Kaleb isn't outside, he's inside waiting at the door to go back out. If only moms didn't get tired . . .

And for the Grandma's, this week Kaleb can say "ck" and "ch" ending words, like: rock, stick, clock, duck, sock, truck, and ouch. He can also say "this," "that," "hot," and "grass" . I think he would LOVE to say puppy or dog, but he can only bark and lick still. What a silly boy.

MORE house projects - gotta love em'

That pretty much sums up what I've been busy doing all week. We did a whole rock climbing training with the youth on Wednesday night, but by Saturday it snowed so we had to cancel the trip :( Sad. But I'm glad we got to finish some house projects. They're actually kinda fun to me. (Braydan's not so sure anymore :) I must say, however, that painting trim is extremely slow and tedious work! I'm not a very patient person, so it was hard for me to keep motivated on one doorway or window ledge for an hour at a time.

Plus it's just a pain cause you have to sand it, caulk it, then prime it, and do one or two coats of paint on it. I think the white trim looks a lot better. The doors are a whole other story. I got it in my head that I just had to have new 6-panel doors to finish the room. I found out they had em' at Lowe's for pretty cheap, BUT you buy them un-cut. I figured Braydan could do it easy. Well, I'll just say that they're not so easy and he's done doing doors :)

I better get back to work. I have to finish my other room now!

Zach comes to the SUNNY city

Not only was it a beautiful, sunny day on Saturday, but I got to see my little brother Zach!

We had to meet him in Seattle and that was a pain trying to find him! He was on the advanced Biology trip (the same one I went on when I was a senior) and Seattle was their last stop on the 2 week adventure. We agreed to meet somewhere around the market on Pike street. Big mistake. There was a million people swarming there and Zach left his group, which had a cell-phone! Then Braydan and I split up to cover more area, but my cell-phone died. I said a prayer in my head and it wasn't 5 minutes and I found Zach.

After that chaos, we had a relaxing time shopping around, eating up by the monorail, and playing in my favorite fountain. I wanted to take him home with me, but we had to leave him there : ( Sad.

Twinners: They didn't plan their outfits, I swear.

Kaleb loved the big city, especially all the dogs, the music, and flirting with all the girls in zach's class. WE LOVE YOU ZACHY AND MISS YOU!!!

Things I can cross off my to-do list!

I finally picked a paint color for my living room and I think I got it right! I was scared to go with a darker tanish/brown, but I think it's warm and cozy now. Just imagine nice, white molding to go with it. That's our next project! (braydan's next project :)

I'll let you use your imagination on this picture too. (Hint: It's paint) I guess it's a good thing Braydan cut his hair short.

I also finally took Kaleb in for "professional" pictures. The lady made me feel kinda dumb for not coming sooner, but I wanted to tell her I have a nice camera and take too many anyway. Kaleb started out good with the whole thing, but then he wouldn't stay in one spot. I guess that's why I picked this picture cause it will always remind me what a busy boy he is that she had to get bright red apples to distract him. She even told me to move somewhere else cause she thought I was distracting him, but I told her he doesn't care about me. She probably thought I was weird after that, but it's true! He was way more interested in all the cool gadgets and chords everywhere. The whole thing felt very rushed, but at least I know what it's like. And it also gave me confidence that I can do good pictures at home (if I practice). (and if I get cool backdrops!)

Still Feels Good

Saturday night I got to see Rascal Flatts in concert!!! I was so excited, plus Taylor Swift opened for them. My friend Sammy won tickets off the radio and so we went for free! We were only 10 rows from the front, so pretty good seats. I didn't take my camera cause I'm an idiot, but I found tons of pictures of them performing on-line.

While I was gone, Braydan (out of boredom or jealousy that he didn't get to go) shaved Kaleb's head!!! I got home late and didn't see Kaleb till Sunday morning, but when I did, oh boy, I had a conniption!!!! I was so angry that I couldn't even talk to him. I had nothing nice to say so I left for conference without him. Luckily I got over it so I didn't ruin the spirit the whole day, but I'm still very sad about my baby's hair :( Braydan thought it was starting to look girly, but trust me, he barely had any hair to begin with! I guess it will grow back eventually!

Mom Tips!

I get the Parenting magazine and they have these little "mom tips" in there that real moms write in. Most of them are kinda dumb, so I was thinking we should all share our own! I was talking to my friend the other day and told her that I clean my bathroom while Kaleb takes a bath cause I get so bored sitting in there. Don't get me wrong, I love to watch him and get drenched with his splashing, but I hate wasting time! I just bring all my cleaning stuff up with me and then I'm forced to finish it cause I can't leave the room while he's in the tub.

Anyways, here's another funny tip. (one that i probably won't do again for a while). Whenever I try and do the dishes, Kaleb knows and clings to my leg and whines cause I don't give him any attention. I got tired of it so I plopped him in the sink next to me. At first I didn't want him to get real wet, but then I didn't care. He had fun and I got my kitchen clean faster!

I forgot to post about last weekend. Braydan went on a camp out with the scouts and was gone Friday and Saturday :( I was jealous cause it's a really pretty spot. We'll have to go later (when it's warmer!) . Luckily my friend, whose husband also is a scout leader, had a ladies night Friday. Luckily too, my other friend watched Kaleb for me. (Thanks Rodney!)
