Kaleb has been really sweet to her. He asks to hug and kiss her all the time (the hugs are a little much, but he tries) He likes to cover her up with his blanket and I have to pull it off her face so she can breathe! He'll run and get me a diaper and pull out wipes (like the whole box worth!) when I ask. He won't say her name yet, she's just "baby." If I'm being loud and she's sleeping, he'll say, "Mama, shhhhhh" in a very bossy voice. My sister comes tomorrow and I'm excited for her to see them! Kaleb will love a new playmate :)
Two Little Munchkins
A moment of silence
I invite you all to take a moment of silence in remembrance of a sacred friend of the DuRee household: Kaleb's binky. Yes, it has finally passed on as of yesterday 6:15pm via the toilet. (Please don't call the city wastewater treatment place. They might yell at us. Throwing it in the garbage failed in past attempts. Kaleb always seemed to rescue it.) I wish I would've taken a picture of the beloved "beep" as he calls it because it sported at least 5 holes and was filled with who knows what kind of filth. Kaleb even knew it was gross and told me so often. So last night we told him your bink is yucky, go throw it in the toilet. He happily did, slammed the lid, and flushed it. He was pretty excited about what he did until reality sank in. Then he talked about it the rest of the night.
"Beep?"
"Sorry Kaleb, you flushed it remember?"
"Why?"
"Because it was gross."
"Ya, gross." (with a disgusted look on his face)
2 minutes later . . . .
"Where go?"
"Where did what go?" (trying to pretend I don't know what he's talking about)
"Beep."
"You flushed it."
"Potty?"
"Yep, potty"
"Why?"
Okay, you get the idea. . . . but we wonder when he'll change the subject!
To make a long, miserable story short, I found Braydan asleep on Kaleb's floor this morning. I was so tired last night that I actually fell asleep with him still crying about it. Wow. At one point as I'm laying there listening to him, I actually started getting emotional. How would I like it if someone flushed my bestfriend down the toilet? What if I slept with something for two years and then the next minute it's gone? I must've not been too upset cause I fell asleep :) So, farewell little friend. You've served me well and Kaleb will miss you (way too much), but it's time we said goodbye.

Bringing Home Baby
She's been awesome with getting up early with Kaleb and letting me sleep in with Eliza and helping with everything else!
Eliza has been a good baby. She sleeps a 5 hour stretch every night and goes right back to sleep. Kaleb never did that :(
Kaleb has been a nice brother so far, but he's had lots of attention from Grandma and Dad. We'll see when we're on our own!
One day we put vaseline on Eliza and accidently left the tub in Kaleb's room. When we went to get him up from his nap, this is what we found! He tried to copy us on his baby :)
I just had to include this picture of the flooding here. Notice the bridge? That's supposed to be the road. Braydan had to spend an extra 3 hours commuting cause of washed-out roads! Not fun!
Eliza Sue is Here!
Jessica is sleeping, but asked me to post some pictures for everyone. Jessica went to her doctor appointment on New Year's Eve and she had high blood pressure and toxcemia worries so they scheduled an induction for Friday at 7:00 AM and put her on bedrest. Everything went well except that Jessica's epidural cord came disconnected during labor and we don't know how long it was undone. They plugged it back in but it never really worked. I wasn't sure how to help Jessica with the pain because I thought the epidural would take care of that! The doctor that had been with us all morning had to leave at 3:00 and the next doctor did not show up until 3:30! So Jessica had wait to push during the worst part of her labor. Eliza was born at 3:49 pm on Friday. She scared us because her umbilical cord was wrapped tight around her neck, but the doctor quickly cut it off. She didn't take her first breath for about 10 seconds and she was turning all blue. Finally we heard a cry and her color came back. She weighed 7 lbs 14 oz, and was 19 inches long. Here's some cute pictures of her.
Thanks to everyone who helped with taking care of Kaleb and cooking us dinners! You don't know how much that means to us.
