Colorado

In January, Braydan applied for a job in Fort Collins, CO. He wasn't quite qualified for it, but he knew it was an awesome job--designing some of the largest mines and dams in the world. I cringed when he told me, but quickly forgot about it as time went by and we didn't hear anything. Then they emailed him in March and asked for a phone interview. Last week they flew him down for an interview and offered him the job, wanting him to start June 1st.

What to do, what to do!!??? We made pro/con lists. We did research: schools, crime, church, weather, commute, farm potential, distance to family, etc. It all added up to moving to Fort Collins. But still my heart was not in it. I love my home. I feel like I was finally getting it where I wanted! I was so excited for my garden and chickens. They are almost going to start laying eggs! I love my neighbors and friends. They are like family to me. I love our little ward!

Last night Braydan told me that we can't move if I'm going to be angry and bitter at him. He got an answer that it's the right thing, but told me (gently) that I need to get my own answer because he did not want to drag me there and have me be unhappy.

He fell asleep, but I prayed and stayed up late thinking. I got the same answer that I've been getting for weeks: to trust in God and trust in Braydan that everything will work out okay. I knew deep down that it was the right thing and once I told myself that we're moving, I felt like I could fall asleep! I've been sleeping horrible lately and now I know why.

Today I tried to look at the positive things more instead of what I'm leaving behind. We will be 7 hours from my family (instead of 14)! It's sunny almost every day of the year there. We are sick of Braydan's commute (an hour and a half every day) and found houses within a mile of his work. The houses are bigger for the money. And they are building a temple there! I couldn't believe it during conference when President Monson announced a temple there. 5 of the elementary schools scored 10's and others are at least 8 and 9.

So we have less than 6 weeks left. I thought by writing this down it would help it sink in, but I'm still not doing much to get ready. How can I get over this denial phase?

So exciting! I can't believe it's only 7 hours from billings!
Our best buds just moved there, and they are homesick, but they have only positive things to say. Good luck to you!

SO EXCITING! One of my really good friends moved there 2 years ago or so and is constantly trying to find us jobs there (her husband and Cris graduated in Stats). She LOVES where she lives but wishes she had more LDS neighbors so you should move by her, they are AWESOME! haha . . . Good Luck, we are in the hunt for jobs as well, have been for quite some time but nothing is working out so I guess it isn't time for us to move on yet?

Jess, it is WAY exciting! I remember clearly the roller coaster of being sure/unsure and excited/not excited for our last two "work" moves. What I remember most is that there were huge swings on both sides of the decision. Before the decision I was excited and then unsure, then after the decision I was also excited and nervous, happy for the new things, sad about lost things, and also unhappy about new different things. It is hard, but Colorado is a great place! The housing market is so much more reasonable there right now, the cost of living, the instant access to vitamin D and there are so many mountaineering trips that will call to Braydan once you're there. :) You guys will do awesome!!

We can be moving buddies and go through this together. I was amazed at how similar I feel with all your words and feelings. IT's so hard not to get an answer but just trust in our husbands. I hope things go well with renting or selling your house. I do love CO and am sure you will make it feel like home in no time! Plus short comutes are soooo great!

Our last move was really hard for me. It is hard when you love were you are at. Being so much closer to family will be awesome though! I hope that everything goes well. I have only heard positive things about Colorado. Everyone I know who has moved there LOVES it. Good luck!

You'll be sorely missed here, but you're listening to the right sources, so you can know without a doubt that it will all work out for the best. Really excited for you!

Alot of encouraging words daughter.
I will continue to pray for your family. We are excited for you to be closer to us but I know how much you love your friends there. Things will work out because you will make the best of it. Love you!

The town looks nice. People I've talked to that know the Denver area said that Fort Collins is a real nice town. I actually worried when I heard you decided to move hoping that Craig and I didn't push you. Did I know it was right that you move? I then thought that it's not my decision to make and I don't need a witness that it is right. Just you two do. I loved reading the blog about what you decided, Jessica. I thought of the temple session and what Eve said. You two will bless many people where ever you go. Remember that peace is an answer and you will be blessed with greater faith. I also love you being closer to us.

I am just sad because I am so selfish. I feel like I just got here and you can't leave yet because we have to be BFFs. Well, I guess we only need a few months together to have that. ;) I wish you the best, and I am here to talk whenever you need to.
